Happy Valentine’s Day to those of you celebrating today! Today is a great day to celebrate love you have for yourself, your significant other, and your children.
If you are still looking for some ideas on how to kick off the holiday, here are some tips for you whether you are single, trying to figure out what to do with your kids, or in a relationship.
Single Life
For those of you who are single, Valentine’s Day does not have to be a day when you are lamenting the fact that you don’t have a significant other. In fact, look at it from a different perspective. Today can be all about YOU!
Use today as a time to get back in touch with yourself! After all, you might not be single next year. A spa day of self-care can help to center and rejuvenate you. If you have some good friends or close family members who are single, newly widowed, or going through a difficult time host a V-Day potluck and invite them over or do a fun movie marathon of comedies or your favorite romantic movies. Valentine’s Day is about love. This is a great way to exhibit love to others and celebrate the holiday with others.

Teach your Kids about Love
If you have children, this is a great time to do an art or craft project where you have your kids put together a poster board where they post pictures of the things they love and explain to you why. Or, you can have your kids call a couple of people who are important in their lives and tell them why these people are meaningful to them.
Often as parents, we may not directly teach our kids about love and how to have healthy relationships. As a result, most children end up modeling our relationships. Valentine’s Day is a great day to teach your kids about love, the importance of having and showing love to others, and a way to start instilling in them how to have a healthy relationship with themselves and others.
Ideas for Couples
For couples who are celebrating today, write a letter to your partner reminding them of why you love them so much. Or, create a sexy scavenger hunt where you leave clues around the house relating to your first kiss, first date, best vacation, or honeymoon. Let this lead up to the big reveal and big reward for your significant other. The reward can be a massage, a relaxing bubble bath, or some sexy lingerie. Mix it up. Get creative! If you have kids, you might want to get a babysitter so you can really let go and enjoy one another!
Just Celebrate
No matter what your status is today, it doesn’t matter. Self-love, exhibiting love to others, and your significant other are all ways to celebrate and have a HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
